Shout outs to fellow busker Joe Crow Ryan we met there, and to Ben Krieger, now the Lord of the Anti-Folk Manor, who also writes offbeat song cycles involving non-humans.

NEW YORK, NY -- McGeary, in the starring role of Hannah, begins rehearsals for a new off-off-Broadway production, presented by THE PROSPECT THEATER COMPANY, WILL POMERANTZ directing, of Bauer's THE BLUE FLOWER, an ongoing experimental theater project Bauer has been collaborating on with his wife, visual artist Ruth Bauer. The Blue Flower project began in 1999, and it was in an early workshop production at The Public Theater in NYC that Bauer first met McGeary when she was first cast in the role of Hannah. The new production will have 28 performances between February 2 and March 2 at The West End Theater in NYC.

In the audience are Chuck Hirshberg, Susan Driscoll, and David Fairchild, an odd trio of Bauer's old friends who generate many sparks, like lightening striking three times in the same spot.

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Dagmar 2 takes its first trip to Philly, performing at the altar of open mics, THE WORLD CAFE LIVE. We make many new friends and spend the evening with Jim's son Lewis and his girlfriend Rose. Lewis plays guitar and writes songs for his Philly band YOUNG GENE BUFFALO. The roads are covered in snow and ice returning to NYC. We roll in around 5am, and have a busking date at the Herald Square subway station that afternoon.

SALEM, MA -- Dagmar The (Boston) Band does a Halloween night gig in "The Witch City", the very nerve center of Halloween, at a new location of THE GULU-GULU CAFE opened over the summer. This will be Gulu's first Halloween in Salem. The streets are shut down and the entire city is overflowingly jammed with revelers. We've invited THE SCALLYWAGS, a scandalous pirate band, to join us. They bring along Pirate burlesque dancers who stop people dead in their tracks as they pass the plate glass windows of the club that open out onto the street. Sex sells. The night becomes legend in Gulu lore. A good time is had by all.

WORCESTER, MA -- Dagmar The (Boston) Band joins THE STEAMY BOHEMIAN'S' "Jerkus Circus" variety and burlesque show at RALPH'S DINER, a rambling rowdy roadhouse bar in the middle of Massachusetts. A vicious thunderstorm has left the parking lot of the club flooded, so we wade our equipment in and up a long flight of stairs. Dagmar goes on around midnight and the sound guy turns everything to 11, and we blow people out of the room. We get home around 6 AM.

Dagmar gets the best press of its young life, with a lot of face recognition on the streets; NYC can feel like a small town with just a bit of exposure.
