"FOLKTRONICA" EP NEARING COMPLETION

Today will be the last in our ten-day stay at Robbie Bronniman's Robot Studios near Bristol, U.K., finishing up our sessions for the upcoming "folktronica" four-song EP. The recordings should be available for electronic distribution in early April.

NEW ALBUM PROJECT UNDERWAY

Bauer and McGeary begin a new album project this week, an EP of four songs that will provide the basis of a full album of "Folktronica" (folk meets dance/electronica) music that will in turn be the foundation for a theatrical show they are developing. "Dagmar The Musical" (the temporary reference title) will take the story of Dagmar from quiet beginning to raucous conclusion. Find out what happens to the guy who can't get out of bed in the morning and the insect goddess who plunges through the ether to rescue him. They'll be working with engineer/producer ROBBIE BRONNIMANN in the U.K. on the EP. Meghan and Jim are at Pontoon World Headquarters this week recording the initial tracks that Robbie will begin working his magic on next week. Jim heads to New York in mid-February for several recording sessions with Dagmar drummer/percussionist DAVID ROZENBLATT, our fourth collaborator on the project. We'll all be convening in Robbies "Robot Studios" in Bristol, U.K. at the end of March to wrap up the EP.

"THE BLUE FLOWER" OPENS AT A.R.T.

THE BLUE FLOWER, a multi-media musical theater piece about "four interesting Germans and a love rectangle" that Jim and his wife Ruth have been developing since the turn of the century, opens its run at A.R.T.-The American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA with a first preview performance tonight. The show opens December 8. Meghan and Jim met in 2001 when she joined the cast of "The Blue Flower" at an early workshop performance at Joe's Pub in NYC. She continues blowing audiences away in her role as Hannah, dangerously unpredictable Dada Girl. There will be 8 shows a week in the Loeb Drama Center. The show runs through January 8, 2011. Rehearsals began October 28th and with 8 shows/week coming up for Meghan through Jan 8, DAGMAR has been and will continue to be on a bit of a hiatus. When we return, we'll be starting our next album project -- a blend of folk and dance/electronica music we call "Folktronica". Should be the kind of album you can put on and dance the night away with. Or maybe sit on the couch with tears coming down your eyes. Or a little of both.

We wrapped up the final mixes for Door No. 3 today, and it's now being printed. Will be available for sale -- only through us directly -- in early September.

We're several months into the process now, and just a few weeks away from completing "Door No. 3". Guitar, vocals, bass, drums (DOUG FULLER), hand percussion (DAVID ROZENBLATT), melodica, harmonica and accordion are recorded. STEVE LATT has completed his work on banjo, mandolin, fiddle, dobro and pedal steel guitar. Now we're in the process of putting it all together. We've been saying "a few weeks" now for months, so there's no reason to believe us. Onward through the fog . . .

"DOOR No. 3" RECORDING CONTINUES

The "Door No. 3" recording project continues, with all the basic tracks now laid down. Beginning work now on the details, some of which are quite large. Finishing the album in February may be a little optimistic, but it's still the goal.

DAGMAR TO SET UP SHOP IN CA

We learned today that come summer, MEGHAN will be setting up DAGMAR WEST in San Francisco, so we'll now have three ideal homes: Boston, NYC and San Fran. It's good timing. 2010 will be the year of DAGMAR ON THE ROAD, continuing its journey from, as we say, "here to where". It's all good, and getting gooder.

DAGMAR opens for THE WIYOS

DAGMAR opened for most excellent friend and supremely talented MICHAEL FARKAS and his band THE WIYOS on January 8th at The Center for the Arts in Natick, MA and January 9th at the St. Lawrence Art Center in bitterly cold Portland, Maine. It was a privilege and pleasure, a fire to cozy up to on a winter's night. These guys rock Americana, taking it on a fantastic spin. If you have a chance to see them, don't miss it.

OPEN MIC JUGGERNAUT CONTINUES

2010 -- the "Year of The Bug"-- begins, and the DAGMAR open mic juggernaut continues, with dozens of performances over the last couple of months, spreading the word, living the dream, meeting a great collection of great new people ("folks", as they're called in modern political parlance). Having a great time. Onward through the fog . . .

"DOOR No. 3" RECORDING BEGINS

Dagmar had its first official recording session for its third album, "Door No. 3". We'll be digging deeper into free-folk territory with this one, with the wonderful addition of the supremely talented Steve Latt on mandolin, banjo, pedal steel and fiddle. Welcome, Steve! We're thrilled to have you join us.

The best-laid plan is to have the album finished by February.
